The Squash Factory and Marmion Squash Club would like to thank everyone that participated and supported us during the Winter 2013 Night Pennants Competition. It was another successful season for Marmion, and we were able to bring home two championships.
Ladies Tuesday Division One - comprised of Stephanie Oliver, Tomoko McLean, Linda McBriety, Erica Bester, and Sandra Heeney - won their grand final in spectacular fashion. After a very close season that saw Victoria Park and Marmion separated by only two points at the top of the ladder, it seemed inevitable the two sides were due to meet again in the grand final.
Although Victoria Park seemed to have our measure during the regular season, the Marmion ladies managed to absolutely dominate the grand final, dropping only one game and 35 points on their way to a 3-0 victory. An indication of their dominance throughout the season, Marmion players collected first, second, and third in the Most Valuable Player tally at season's end. Congratulations ladies!
Men's Tuesday Division Four - Chris Scolari, Robert Price, Jason King, and Adam Scolari - had a much more competitive grand final. After a poor start to the season, the Marmion boys steamed home, collecting 60 competition points over the last four rounds of the regular season to sit one point clear of Hilton at the top of the ladder.
After splitting their meetings during the season 1-1, Marmion and Hilton faced off in a fantastic and nail-biting grand final at The Squash Factory. In a game split by only seven points and one game, the home team managed to do enough to collect the victory. A well fought game from both sides, congratulations!
Spring Pennants begins on September 16.
